Choosing My Favorite Glassware at Our Home Bar

3 min read

We have a bar area at home, separate from the kitchen.

One of my favorite things about using this space is setting out the wine glasses and tableware I love, then choosing what to use based on my mood and what I feel like drinking.

Which glass feels right today? What would I like to pair it with?

For me, these little decisions are part of enjoying the bar. The space takes on a different feeling depending on the pieces I choose, and I love exploring those combinations.

Creating a Little Scene

Even a change in the shape of a wine glass can make the arrangement feel different. When I start thinking about the dishes to go with it, it feels almost like creating a small table setting on the bar.

Some days, I want to keep things simple. Other days, I enjoy bringing out a few favorite pieces and seeing how they look together.

I like choosing what feels right in the moment. It makes me happy to have a place at home where I can enjoy that process.

There is also something lovely about taking a favorite piece out of storage and seeing it in use. I notice it differently when it becomes part of the moment.

The Tea Bar I Originally Imagined

Actually, my original idea for this space was to create a tea bar.

The inspiration came after seeing Steve Aoki’s home. It sparked the idea of having a dedicated place in my own home to prepare and enjoy tea.

I also love TWG, so I had imagined placing large tea tins here.

My favorite tins would sit alongside cups and saucers, making this a place to enjoy everything from choosing a tea to preparing it and sitting down with a cup.

I love the thought of the tea tins becoming part of the decor, too. I would like to arrange everything so that it feels personal and looks beautiful, while still being easy to use.

Choosing Tea, Just as I Choose a Glass

In the same spot where I now choose wine glasses and tableware, I can imagine one day asking myself, “Which tea would I like today?”

That is something I look forward to.

It could be a quiet moment alone or an afternoon spent chatting with a friend. Choosing the tea, pairing it with a cup, and taking the time to prepare it would bring another way to enjoy this space.

Creating a tea bar is still one of the things I would love to try. I want to take my time thinking about where the tins and cups will go, and what I would like to keep within easy reach.

Letting the Space Evolve

One of the pleasures of making a home is discovering how you want to use each space as you live in it.

I still love the tea bar I first imagined. For now, I’m enjoying choosing my favorite glasses and tableware and bringing them together here.

To me, this bar is a place to combine the things I love and make time at home feel personal.

When I begin bringing the tea bar idea to life, I would love to share the process on LUTILU HOME. I’m curious to see how the space will feel with tea tins, cups, and saucers arranged in it.What would you love to have at your own home bar?

Love,LUTILU
