Why I Love KINFOLK—and Making Room for What I Love

There are many books I love, but KINFOLK holds a special place among them. The photography, the quiet colors, the space on each page—there is something about its visual world that makes me think about the spaces I love and the home I want to create.

I’m drawn to interiors where each piece has room to be appreciated. A favorite ceramic bowl, a beautifully shaped branch, a piece of furniture with a lovely natural texture. I love the idea of bringing these elements together gradually, creating a space that feels personal.

Thinking Beyond a Beautiful Room

When I think about interiors, I also think about the moments that will happen there. Having a drink in a favorite cup in the morning. Choosing dishes for a meal. Setting the table before friends arrive.

These are small things, but including something I love in those moments makes everyday life feel a little more special. Perhaps that is part of why KINFOLK resonates with me. Its visual world gives me space to imagine what I would like to bring into my own daily life.

Finding My Own Balance

I love modern, simple interiors softened by natural elements. A neutral palette, the texture of wood and linen, a ceramic piece, fresh greenery, and a little black for contrast. Working out how these details fit together is a creative pleasure in itself. It reminds me a little of making music. The feeling of a piece changes with the space between the notes, as well as the notes themselves. I sometimes feel something similar when arranging a room or setting a table.

Through LUTILU HOME, I hope to share more of the things I love and the ideas I discover along the way.

Interiors, tableware, and welcoming friends into my home—all are opportunities to explore what feels right to me and to enjoy the time I spend at home.

Is there a book that has inspired the way you imagine your own home?

Love, LUTILU
